Just a Thought on Revelation 16 (Part 2)

Revelation 16:8-15

Introduction: God has already shown us His wrath falling on the earth in the first three vials; now we are going to see the last four vials and we are going to learn something about man in the face of the wrath of God.

  1. And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire.” (Revelation 16:8)
    1. Talk about “global warming” (cf. Isaiah 30:26)
      1. Could this be what men are trying now to prevent then?
      1. Imagine a world where men have nothing but blood to drink and then the sun is 7 x’s hotter.
        1. Does someone want to change God’s plan?
        1. But change will be unsuccessful.
  2. And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.” (Revelation 16:9)
    1. Why? “men scorched” as God says!
    1. Man’s response: “blasphemed the name of God”
      1. Blasphemed the very one that controls all the elements of nature—the foolishness of man.
    1. Man’s response: “repented not”
      1. Man will not change, will continue his rebellion against the Living God.
        1. We see this today already only gets more stubborn then!
  3. And the fifth angel poured out his vial upon the seat of the beast; and his kingdom was full of darkness; and they gnawed their tongues for pain,” (Revelation 16:10)
    1. Nearing the end of the Tribulation; perhaps last six months.
      1. Repeat of Exodus 20:23: Moses.
    1. “seat of the beast”
      1. Ex-cathedra: where the beast sits (Revelation 2:13)
        1. Rome
    1. “gnawed their tongues for pain”
      1. Extreme thirst: blood to drink, great heat
      1. Two witnesses: Elijah and Moses
        1. “have power to shut up heaven” (Revelation 11:6)
        1. When we come to Revelation 16 all three:
          1. Plagues (Revelation 16:2)
          1. Blood (Revelation 16;3)
          1. No water (Revelation 16:10)
    1. “full of darkness”
      1. Sits in darkness, in heat, no water, painful time.
  4. And blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and repented not of their deeds.” (Revelation 16:11)
    1. Man’s reaction: “blasphemed the God of heaven”
      1. Man is stubborn.
      1. Heart is the problem (see Jeremiah 17:9; Psalms 39:5)
    1. See “strength of man’s will against God’s will” (Dr. Peter Ruckman)
      1. No matter what God does man will not repent and get saved.
  5. And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.” (Revelation 16:12)
    1. New element appears (cf. Revelation 16:12)
      1. “Trumpets” and “vials” simultaneous.
    1. “kings of the east”: cavalry attack on Israel
      1. 200,000,000 strong (see Revelation 9:16)
      1. Possibly demonic army out of hell.
  6. And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.” (Revelation 16:13)
    1. “unclean spirits like frogs”: Just get that picture
      1. Such corruption
    1. Compare with picture of Holy Spirit (Matthew 4)
      1. What a contrast!!!!!
    1. “dragon…beast…false prophet”: Satanic trinity
      1. Typified in Old Testament: Numbers 22:41
        1. Balak, Ballaam, Baal.
  7. For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.” (Revelation 16:14)
    1. “they are spirits of devils”: Spirits sent forth to deceive: 2 Thessalonians 2:9
      1. Unclean spirits can heal, speak in tongues raise the dead. (cf. Revelation 13:3, 14)
    1. “the battle of that great day of God Almighty”
      1. Not just a little war, a war that will make all other wars seem as child’s play!
      1. Man facing off against God Almighty
        1. Such is the arrogance of man.
      1. Our God is called a man of war (Exodus 15:3)
      1. Our God is called a Captain (Hebrews 2:10 with Joshua 5:14)
      1. God says he will put hooks in their jaws (cf. Ezekiel 38:4)
        1. God will bring man where he is forced to face “God Almighty”
  8. Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.” (Revelation 16:15)
    1. Intermission verse, as verse 16 is a continuation of verse 14.
    1. Intermission that points to a mid-Tribulation rapture of Tribulation saints.
      1. Takes place before battle of Armageddon
    1. “I come as a thief” (cf. Matthew 24:29-30 with Matthew 24:31)
      1. Immediately precedes Second Coming.
    1. “keepeth his garments”: works involved (cf. Revelation 6:11; 7:14; 12:11; 14:12)
      1. Rapture mentioned in Old Testament (see Psalms 50:3-5; Isaiah 26:12-21)
    1. “lest he walk naked, and they see his shame”
      1. Consider the implication
        1. Adam and Eve’s fear in the Garden of Eden.
      1. Imagine the shame of appearing before “God Almighty” “naked”

Conclusion: Next we are going to go on and study the battle of Armageddon

Just a Thought on Revelation 16 – Part 1

Revelation 16:1-7

Revelation 16:1-7

Just a Thought on Revelation 16

Part 1

Introduction: In Dr. Peter Ruckman’s study bible this chapter is captioned as, “Another account of God’s environmental protection plan.” This is in fact a pretty good description of what is about to be dealt with herein. We are going to see how God deals with man’s “gods” in time to come. This is a reminder to all that we are to worship and serve the Creator not the creation.

  • The time dealt with: Second half of Daniel’s 70th week (Revelation 13:5; 12:6)
  • “And I heard a great voice out of the temple saying to the seven angels, Go your ways, and pour out the vials of the wrath of God upon the earth.” (Revelation 16:1)
    • “And I heard a great voice out of the temple…”
      • John the beloved is the hearer and recorder of the voice.
    • “out of the temple…”
      • Temple in heaven (Revelation 15:5)
    • “Go your ways”
      • Command to the 7 angels that were given the 7 vials of the wrath of God (Revelation 15:7)
    • “and pour out the vials of the wrath of God”
      • What is about to happen: God’s wrath is about to be unleashed on this earth.
      • No grace here only judgment.
      • “wrath” for rejecting God’s Son (John 3:36)
  • “And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth; and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.” (Revelation 16:2)
    • “And the first went, and poured out his vial upon the earth”
      • The first vial poured out.
        • See how God strikes at what man freely worships: “the earth”
    • “and there fell a noisome and grievous sore upon the men which had the mark of the beast”
      • “noisome”: old-English word meaning malignant, or grievous; very deep, painful.
      • Received for taking “the mark of the beast” (cf. Revelation 13:15-18)
        • Leprosy, an Egyptian, North African plague seems to be the disease of the Tribulation (Leviticus 13).
        • Repetition of the plague of boils that struck Egypt (Exodus 9:8-12)
          • Caused by bad blood; literal.
        • Fulfilment of Revelation 14:9-11.
      • “and upon them which worshipped his image.”
        • Worship the devil and you reap the consequences.
      • God uses diseases to judge those that follow the corruption of this world.
        • Example: Herod (Acts 12:23)
      • Literal sores for a corrupt world.
        • Possible baptism will cleanse of the spot in Tribulation (cf. 1 Peter 3:21 “filth of the flesh”)—example: Naaman (2 Kings 5:1-14)
      • Elijah and Moses, two witnesses.
  • “And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea; and it became as the blood of a dead man: and every living soul died in the sea.” (Revelation 16:3)
    • “And the second angel poured out his vial upon the sea”
      • Now God strikes out at the “sea” man’s “god.”
      • See the identification with both Elijah and Moses in these plagues (cp Revelation 11:6; Exodus 7:17-21)
    • “it became as the blood of a dead man”
      • Imagine the corruption.
      • You want to live a corrupt life; God will give you corruption to live in.
    • “and every living soul died in the sea”
      • This shows plainly that the wages of sin (cp. Romans 6:23)
      • Imagine the loss of food supply.
  • “And the third angel poured out his vial upon the rivers and fountains of waters; and they became blood.” (Revelation 16:4)
    • It’s about to get worse; God strikes at the fresh water supply
      • Imagine the terror that will fall on man when all there is to drink is blood!
        • Repetition of the first Egyptian plague (see Exodus 7:19-24)
  • “And I heard the angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, and shalt be, because thou hast judged thus.” (Revelation 16:5)
    • “Angel of the waters” declares God, the living God, to be righteous in giving man blood to drink.
      • Our Lord is a righteous Judge, and all of his judgments are righteous and just (cf. 2 Timothy 4:8; Revelation 16:7)
  • “For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.” (Revelation 16:6)
    • The world is drunk with the blood of the saints (cf. Revelation 17:6-7; 18:24)
      • God avenges the blood of the saints (Revelation 19:2)
      • Sowing and reaping (see Galatians 6:7)
        • “worthy”: deserving of
  • “And I heard another out of the altar say, Even so, Lord God Almighty, true and righteous are thy judgments.” (Revelation 16:7)
    • Hear the joyous cry for the justice of God exercised upon this world.
    • Answer to the prayers of the saints (cp. Revelation 6:10-11 with 19:2).
    • No mercy or grace here only justice and judgment. (Revelation 13:10)

Conclusion: Receive the mercy and grace of God in Christ Jesus today, the day of salvation (2 Corinthians 6:2). Or, you will receive of the justice of God in the day of His wrath and judgment (Revelation 14:10).

Just a Thought on Revelation 15 / Prophecy; God’s Wrath / Revelation 15:5–8

Hello, I’m John Cook and I want to welcome you to John Cook Ministries. This is a ministry of helps in training for the ministry and in encouraging the study of God’s words, comparing scripture with scripture.

I saw a posting the other day someone saying I want to hear the voice of God. They are told to read God’s words. The reply was I want to hear God speak out loud, the reply read God’s words out loud. Could it be that simple? Yes, for the scriptures are the voice of God to man, you want to know what He has to say, READ IT!

Welcome to our continuing study on Just a Thought on Revelation 15, part 4.

Slide 2: Introduction

  • Seven Vials
  • Temple filled with smoke

Slide 3: Revelation 15:7 KJV 1900

And one of the four beasts gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials full of the wrath of God, who liveth for ever and ever.

Slide 4: “one of the four beasts”

•       which are before the throne of God:

Slide 5-8: Revelation 4:6–9 KJV 1900

And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.

And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.

And when those beasts give glory and honour and thanks to him that sat on the throne, who liveth for ever and ever,

Slide 9: “gave unto the seven angels seven golden vials”

•       First appearance of vials in Revelation:

Slide 10: Revelation 5:8 KJV 1900

And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints.

•       No prayers now, unless represents the answer to the prayers of the saints.

Slide 11: “full of the wrath of God, who liveth forever and ever”

•       Man is about to experience the wrath of almighty God

•       Man is going to receive the wages of sin:

Slide 12: Romans 6:23 KJV 1900

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

•       Why? Because the refused the salvation offered:

Slide 13: 1 Thessalonians 1:10 KJV 1900

And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

•       Just think man’s in is against the eternal God requiring eternal punishment.

•       Escape?

Slide 14: Romans 6:23 KJV 1900

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

•       Don’t miss the escape!

Slide 15: Revelation 15:8 KJV 1900

And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled.

Slide 16: “the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and his power”

•       This takes place in OT:

Slide 17-18: Exodus 40:34–35 KJV 1900

Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation, because the cloud abode thereon, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle.

•       Even so as Moses could not enter, so:

Slide 19: “no man was able to enter into the temple, till the seven plagues of the seven angels were fulfilled”

•       None have access to plead the mercy of God.

•       Justice shall rule, wrath without mercy!

•       Today there is mercy as there was in Lot’s Day:

Slide 20: Genesis 19:16 KJV 1900

And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the Lord being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

•       Salvation is available today:

Slide 21: 2 Corinthians 6:2 KJV 1900

(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)

•       The question to consider:

Slide 22: Hebrews 2:3 KJV 1900

How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;

•       Answer without Christ there is no escape:

Slide 23: Revelation 14:10 KJV 1900

The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

Slide 24: Conclusion

•       Get saved now or lose it all then!

Dr. John Cook / General

Just a Thought on Revelation 13 / Number of the Beast (666); Revelation; Prophecy; Antichrist / Revelation 13:11–18

Introduction

Revelation 13:11 KJV 1900

And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.

“And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth”

1.   “Out of the earth”: out of hell

a.  Demonic spirit

b.  NOTE: Satan present on earth: cast out of heaven

i.    Cast out of heaven!

2.   Description:

“and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon”

1.   “like” key word: counterfeit

a.  No horns on a lamb, yet found here

i.    “Horns”: Power, protection

b.  Speaks like the devil!

Revelation 13:12 KJV 1900

And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed.

“And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him”

1.   Devil given power to do miracles:

Revelation 16:13–14 KJV 1900

And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast”

1.   Mission: Idol worship

Zechariah 11:17 KJV 1900

Woe to the idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! The sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: His arm shall be clean dried up, And his right eye shall be utterly darkened.

a.  Leads men to worship the antichrist.

i.    Idolater commands idolatry.

“whose deadly wound was healed”

Revelation 13:4 KJV 1900

And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

Revelation 13:14 KJV 1900

And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

a.  Antichrist overcomes a deadly wound.

Revelation 13:13 KJV 1900

And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men,

“And he doeth great wonders”

1.   Deceives by signs and wonders:

2 Thessalonians 2:9–11 KJV 1900

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

“so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on earth in the sight of men”

1.   As Elijah the prophet:

1 Kings 18:24 KJV 1900

And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the Lord: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken.

a.  Look out for signs and wonders:

2 Thessalonians 2:9–11 KJV 1900

Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:

Revelation 13:14 KJV 1900

And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

“And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth”

1.   Those deceived:

Revelation 12:12 KJV 1900

Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

a.  “inhabiters”: Those that have taken up residence

i.    Chosen to follow the devil

b.  Want to believe the liar God will see that you do:

1 Kings 22:20–23 KJV 1900

And the Lord said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner.

And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will persuade him.

And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith? And he said, I will go forth, and I will be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And he said, Thou shalt persuade him, and prevail also: go forth, and do so.

Now therefore, behold, the Lord hath put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these thy prophets, and the Lord hath spoken evil concerning thee.

“by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast”

1.   God allows the devil to deceive men by miracles.

“saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast”

1.   Call to make a graven image, direct contradiction of scripture:

Exodus 20:4 KJV 1900

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

a.  A corrupting action:

Deuteronomy 4:16 KJV 1900

Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female,

“which had the wound by a sword, and did live”

a.  Reminder of the power God allows the devil at that time!

Dr. John Cook / General

Just a Thought on Revelation 13 / Number of the Beast (666); Revelation; Prophecy; Antichrist / Revelation 13:11–18

Introduction:

  1. The image that must be worshipped.
  2. The mark that must be taken.
  3. The consequences to all that refuse.
  4. The consequences to all who accept.

Revelation 13:15 KJV 1900

And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

“And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast”

1.   Once more we see that God allows the devil to deceive:

God allows beast to give life to the graven image!

“that the image should both speak”

  1. What if this happened today?
    1. Men already worship the world.
    1. Want to be deceived God will allow you to be deceived.

“and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed”

1.   Devil will kill all that do not worship him!

a.  No opposition to capital punishment then:

i.    Example:

Daniel 3:6 KJV 1900

And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

Daniel 3:15 KJV 1900

Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

Revelation 13:16 KJV 1900

And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:

“And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond”

a.  Federal offense not to take the mark!

i.    All are under his power.

“to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads”

a.  Not difficult to believe today, look at the mask!

1.   Counterfeits the Lord:

Revelation 7:4 KJV 1900

And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.

Revelation 14:1 KJV 1900

And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.

Revelation 13:17 KJV 1900

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

“And that no man might buy or sell”

Power to say Who and Who Cannot Purchase

a.  Today: Businesses can and cannot operate outside of the government control!

1.   Required then:

“save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”

a.  Mark required!

Revelation 13:18 KJV 1900

Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.

“Here is wisdom”

a.  God is revealing the mark!

“Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast”

1.   The mark is a number!

“for it is the number of a man”

1.   A specific number of a specific man!

a.  The beast is a man!

“his number is Six hundred threescore and six”

1.   Satanic trinity: 6-6-6

a.  Given concerning Solomon:

2 Chronicles 9:13 KJV 1900

Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold;

2.   INTERESTING TO NOTE: We live in a day when numbers mean more than names!

3.   If you are around in that day, do not take this mark.

a.  Take the mark and you are without hope:

Revelation 14:11 KJV 1900

And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

Conclusion:

  1. The image that must be worshipped.
  2. The mark that must be taken.
  3. The consequences of all that refuse.
  4. The consequence to all who accept.

Pastoral Epistles Lesson 7 (Part 2)

Pastoral Epistles Lesson 7 Part 2

Dr. John Cook / General

Introduction

2 Timothy 1:4 KJV 1900

Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;

Paul’s Heart’s Desire

“Greatly desiring to see thee”

•     Paul’s desire speaks to what should be our desire:

•     Desire to be with God’s people

•     Prayers very personal.

•     What is missing today?

•     Early Churches’ Love for One Another.

Romans 1:11 KJV 1900

For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end you may be established;

1 Thessalonians 2:17 KJV 1900

But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavoured the more abundantly to see your face with great desire.

•     Why the Loss?

“being mindful of thy tears”

•     Tears such as found in:

Acts 20:37–38 KJV 1900

And they all wept sore, and fell on Paul’s neck, and kissed him,

Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.

Timothy’s tears perhaps:

•     Tears for the Difficulties Faced Alone

How to Face:

1 Kings 3:7–9 KJV 1900

And now, O Lord my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I am but a little child: I know not how to go out or come in.

And thy servant is in the midst of thy people which thou hast chosen, a great people, that cannot be numbered nor counted for multitude.

Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

•     This we certainly need to stay in the ministry

•     Tears of the Absence of Close Fellowship

“that I may be filled with joy;

At the Presence of Timothy:

•     Joy of seeing his son in the ministry!

•     Joy of ministering to Timothy once more!

•     Joy for seeing the faithfulness of Timothy in the ministry!

•     Paul Needed Such Encouragement:

2 Timothy 4:9 KJV 1900

Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:

2 Timothy 4:21 KJV 1900

Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.

•     So do we all!

2 Timothy 1:5 KJV 1900

When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

Remembering:

When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee”

•     Paul rejoiced at Timothy’s testimony of faith!

•     Outward actions for the Savior shows our faith to others!

•     Consider:

James 2:18 KJV 1900

Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

Important Because of Men

1 Samuel 16:7 KJV 1900

But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.

Appearances Matter:

1 Thessalonians 5:22 KJV 1900

Abstain from all appearance of evil.

unfeigned faithwhich dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice”

•     Christian Heritage Rejoiced In

Acts 16:1–3 KJV 1900

Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:

Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.

Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew all that his father was a Greek.

3 John 4 KJV 1900

I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

Rejoicing in the Fruit of Such Faith:

Philippians 2:19–20 KJV 1900

But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state.

For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state.

Conclusion: Paul reminds:

Serve God With a Pure Conscience.

Pray for Our Brothers in the Lord.

True Faith is Unfeigned and will Stand the Trials.

Christian Should and Do Desire Close Fellowship

All Need Encouragement in the Lord’s Service.

Just a Thought on Revelation 13/Part 5

Dr. John Cook / General

Just a Thought on Revelation / Revelation; Prophecy; Antichrist; Beast / Revelation 13:3–9

Revelation 13:8-10

Introduction:

1. Hello, I’m John Cook.

2. Welcome to our continuing study on Just a Thought on the Book of Revelation.

3. Today we are on part 5 of Just a thought on Revelation 13.

Revelation 13:8 KJV 1900

And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

“And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him”

Devil worship world-wide!

“whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”

The devil’s crowd!

A very specific book!

Revelation 21:27 KJV 1900

And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

This Book Belongs to the Lamb of God

John 1:29 KJV 1900

The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.

John 1:36 KJV 1900

And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!

Jesus is the provided “Lamb of God” as prophesied by Abraham.

Genesis 22:8 KJV 1900

And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together.

1 Peter 1:18–19 KJV 1900

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Revelation 13:9 KJV 1900

If any man have an ear, let him hear.

“If any man have an ear”

Addressed to “any man.”

“let him hear”

Let the Ear do its Work!

Heed Proverbs 19:27!

Proverbs 19:27 KJV 1900

Cease, my son, to hear the instruction That causeth to err from the words of knowledge.

Revelation 13:10 KJV 1900

He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints.

“He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity”

Speaks to the Devil!

Revelation 20:2–3 KJV 1900

And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

Revelation 20:10 KJV 1900

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Speaks to the antichrist!

Revelation 19:20 KJV 1900

And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Revelation 20:10 KJV 1900

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

“he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword”

Death in Tribulation-Decapitation

Fits Muslims Pattern Against Christians!

“…killed with the sword…”

The sword that “goeth out of His mouth”

Revelation 19:15 KJV 1900

And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

Revelation 19:21 KJV 1900

And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which swordproceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

“Here is the patience and the faith of the saints”

What keeps the saints going in persecution!

Revelation 6:9–11 KJV 1900

And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held:

And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth?

And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

So we come to the end of our lesson for this day. For the believer today the future is bright. For those that choose the devil’s way, well your future is disastrous!

Don’t wait trust the Savior now before it is too late!

Just a Thought on Revelation 13 (Part 4)

Introduction:

1. Hello, I’m John Cook.

2. Welcome to our continuing study on Just a Thought on the Book of Revelation.

3. Today we are on part 4 of Just a thought on Revelation 13.

Revelation 13:6 KJV 1900

And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven.

“And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God”

Satan’s Enemy is Ever God!

Cannot conquer, so blasphemes!

Daniel 7:25 KJV 1900

And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.

His Desire “wear out the saints”

“to blaspheme his name”

Attacks the Almighty Name of God!

•     Hates the Power of His Name!

•     Power to save, overcome, keep!

“to blaspheme…his tabernacle”

Out to Defeat the Presence of God in His Own!

“to blaspheme…them that dwell in heaven”

Attacks what he cannot touch!

Hates our Salvation

Revelation 13:7 KJV 1900

And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.

“And it was given unto him to make war with the saints”

Who are the Saints? Israel!

Make the Holocaust as Nothing!

“and to overcome them”

Israel will be brought to near destruction. Jacob’s trouble!

Matthew 24:21–22 KJV 1900

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.

God will shorten the days for the elect’s sake!

“and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations”

He Will Have World-Wide Power

Then will men get what they are crying for, world government!

But it won’t like they think!
