Just a Thought on Revelation 12 (Part 7)

YouTube Video

Introduction: In our last study we saw that old dragon, the devil, and his angels, cast down to earth. The accuser of the brethren, the devil, is removed. No longer does he have access to the Throne of God to accuse us before our Heavenly Father. We saw also the rejoicing that brought in the courts of glory.

(Slide 3)

Now we come to see the victory that is ours, we are overcomers. But we also see that this earth is in for it as Satan is cast down to earth.

(Slide 4)

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

(Slide 5)

  1. “they overcame him”
    1. Thus we see the path to victory.

(Slide 6)

  1. Three types of Christians:
    1. Every Christian overcomes “by the blood of the Lamb”: 1 Peter 1:18-19 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; [19] But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

(Slide 7)

  • Not every Christian testifies for the Savior, but some do.
    • Those who do overcome “by the word of their testimony”

(Slide 8)

  • Those who testify do not all love the Lord Jesus Christ above their own lives, their own families, and the world
    • But there are some that “loved not their lives unto the death”

(Slide 9)

  1. “by the blood of the Lamb”
    1. We overcome by the blood of the Lamb: old fashioned, “Plead the blood.”

(Slide 10)

  • Our victory is in the Lamb of God: Romans 8:33-34, 37 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.  Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us…Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

(Slide 11)

  • Overcome the devil through the blood of the Lamb, the devil hates the blood of the Lamb.

(Slide 12)

Revelation 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

(Slide 13)

  1. “Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them”
    1. A time for rejoicing for us as believers.
    1. Victory in heaven.
    1. What’s good news for the believer is bad news for the world:

(Slide 14)

  • “Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! “
    • Good news for believers, bad news for “the inhabiters of the earth.”
      • Hear the warning: “Woe”

(Slide 15)

  1. For the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath”
    1. Why the warning?
      1. Devil comes down to earth
      1. Comes with great wrath
        1. Devil doesn’t like when he doesn’t get his way.
        1. He is a rebel, running out of time.

(Slide 16)

  • Now the world is going to see the fury of the wicked one.
    • These last 3 ½ years of Tribulation will be terrifying.
    • Ending of his time: cf. Matthew 8:29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

(Slide 17)

  • Devil knows not much time to cause trouble for God
    • Devil knows he is not in charge

(Slide 18)

  • “inhabiters of the earth”
    • These are not pilgrims, sojourners
      • As believers are:
        • 1 Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

(Slide 19)

  • Only residence: 1 John 4:5-6 They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them.  [6] We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

(Slide 20)

  • “he hath but a short time”
    • Limited, not limitless.
    • Knows that all shall come to a screeching halt.
    • Reaction in his fury:

(Slide 21)

Revelation 12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.

(Slide 22)

(Slide 23)

(Slide 24)

  1. Absolute hatred for Israel

(Slide 25)

  1. Devil knows he is going to lose the kingdoms of this world: Revelation 11:15.

(Slide 26)

  • Certainty of the promise to Israel: cp. Acts 1:16 Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

(Slide 27)

  1. Cp. Jeremiah 33:8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

(Slide 28)

  1. God is going to turn from the Gentiles to Israel yet in the future.

(Slide 29)

  1. The devil knows that he is going to lose to Israel’s God and Israel, hates it.

(Slide 30)

Conclusion: What we saw?

(Slide 31)

We see next the flight of Israel.

Just a Thought on Revelation 12 (Part 6)

YouTube Video

Introduction: In our last study we saw what happened to the angels that followed the devil, 1/3 of the host, are cast out of heaven. Now we pick our study up at Verse 9 and there we are going to see what happened to the devil at that time.

(Slide 2)

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

(Slide 3)

  1. “the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan”
    1. Down comes the devil, cast out of heaven.
    1. We shall see that his opposition will become even more fierce.

(Slide 4)

  1. “cast out”
    1. Thrown out like the guest without a robe at the wedding: Matthew 22:11-13 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: [12] And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. [13] Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

(Slide 5)

  • Our Lord will always be victorious over the dragon: cp. Isaiah 27:1 In that day the LORD with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon that is in the sea.

(Slide 6)

  1. “which deceiveth the whole world”
    1. Satan is a deceiver: John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

(Slide 7)

  1. Told Eve, “ye shall not surely die” (Genesis 3:4)

(Slide 8)

  1. Like false teachers and preachers: Romans 16:18 For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

(Slide 9)

  1. 2 Corinthians 11:13-15

(Slide 10)

  • Seeks to deceive Believers: 1 Peter 5:8

(Slide 11)

  1. Deceives the nations today: Revelation 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

(Slide 12)

  1. Cp. Revelation 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

(Slide 13)

  1. “he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him”
    1. Herein is a terrifying thought, the devil will come to this earth in fury.
    1. Wait till man sees these visitors from outer space!

(Slide 14)

Revelation 12:10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

(Slide 15)

  • “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven”
    • A glorious declaration for some, bad news for others.

(Slide 16)

  • “Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ”
    • Satan vanquished is salvation.

(Slide 17)

  • Satan vanquished is strength: 1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
    • Cp. Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

(Slide 18)

  • “for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night”
    • Rejoice that this day means satan can no longer accuse us to the Savior.
      • This he is doing today, even as he did with Job to God (Job1 & 2)
    • Great news for us as believers.

(Slide 19)

Conclusion: What a great note to end our study on, the removal of that old dragon that accuses us before the Throne of God daily. Praise God the accusations will end.

Just a Thought on Revelation 12 (Part 1)

In our lesson, today, we are looking at Just a Thought on Revelation chapter 12. This is part one of our study chapter 12.  So get your bible and let’s get right into our study.

Just a Thought on Revelation!

Revelation 12

Introduction:

  1. Dr. Peter Ruckman and others tell us:
    1. Revelation gives us 4 views of Tribulation.
      1. 4-6: Seals
      1. 7-11: Trumpets
      1. 12-14: Work and ministry of the antichrist
      1. 15-19: Vials, or bowls
    1. Divisions of Revelation:
      1. 1:4 “which is” “which was” “which is to come”
      1. 1-3: Church Age
      1. 4-19: Tribulation
      1. 20-22: Millennium
    1. Chapter 12 reveals:
      1. The time period of 3 ½ years given (v. 6 “a thousand two hundred and threescore days”
      1. Same as what is described in chapter 13.
      1. Possible ministry of Moses and Elijah during this time.
    1. Chapter 11-14 gives a bird’s eye view of the last 3 ½ years of the Tribulation.
  2. Dr. Jack Hyles: This begins the last 3 ½ years of the Tribulation, the time of Jacob’s trouble.

This Brings us to vs. 1:

Revelation 12:1 And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars:

  1. “a great wonder in heaven”
    1. Wonder deals with signs and symbols.
      1. God reveals we are dealing with signs and symbols not literal
  2. “a woman”
    1. Misunderstood, misrepresented by many.
      1. Why? Failure to compare scripture with scripture. (Isaiah 28:10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:)
      1. Why? Failure to study (2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.)
    1. Misinterpretation:
      1. Is Mary (Rome)
      1. Is the Church (Protestant)
    1. Neither meet the truth when compared with scripture:
      1. Mary flees to Egypt not the wilderness (Matthew 2:13-14  And when they were departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeareth to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I bring thee word: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him.  [14] When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt:)
      1. Church:
        1. Does not keep the Law
        1. Does not need access to the tree of life as these will (Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. Cp with 1 John 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.)
        1. Church raptured (Revelation 4:1  After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.)
  3. Identity: “sun…moon…stars”
    1. Genesis 37:9-10 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.  [10] And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?
      1. Joseph is the twelfth star.
    1. The whole 70th week deals with Israel: Daniel 9:27  And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
  4. Israel often ID’d in OT as a “woman”
    1. Isaiah 54:1-6 Sing, O barren, thou that didst not bear; break forth into singing, and cry aloud, thou that didst not travail with child: for more are the children of the desolate than the children of the married wife, saith the LORD.  [2] Enlarge the place of thy tent, and let them stretch forth the curtains of thine habitations: spare not, lengthen thy cords, and strengthen thy stakes;  [3]  For thou shalt break forth on the right hand and on the left; and thy seed shall inherit the Gentiles, and make the desolate cities to be inhabited.  [4] Fear not; for thou shalt not be ashamed: neither be thou confounded; for thou shalt not be put to shame: for thou shalt forget the shame of thy youth, and shalt not remember the reproach of thy widowhood any more.  [5] For thy Maker is thine husband; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called.  [6] For the LORD hath called thee as a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God.
    1. Adulterous wife (Jeremiah 3:1-14; Hosea 2:14-23)
    1. Divorced woman: “Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother’s divorcement, whom I have put away? Or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, And for your transgressions is your mother put away.” (Isaiah 50:1)

Revelation 12:2 And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

  1. “she being with child”
    1. Id’s Israel brings forth the Savior
      1. Jesus is called the “seed of the woman”
      1. the “seed of Abraham” (Galatians 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.)
      1. “seed of David” (Romans 1:3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;)
      1. Israel is spoken of as bringing forth a man child (Isaiah 66:7-8 Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she was delivered of a man child.  Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.)
      1. God promised Israel a Child to be their Messiah (Isaiah 9:6-7 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counseller, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.)
